How much does it cost to send money?
Sending money to friends and family on Payscan is free. Some services, like bill payments or cashing out through an agent, may carry a small fee, always shown clearly before you confirm.
Which banks and wallets work with Payscan?
All the ones you already use in Malawi, Standard Bank, National Bank, FDH, NBS and First Capital Bank, plus TNM Mpamba and Airtel Money.
Does the person I'm paying need Payscan?
No. You can send straight to any bank account or mobile wallet. If they're on Payscan it's instant and free, and they can scan your QR to pay you back.
Is my money safe?
Yes. Payscan operates under Reserve Bank of Malawi regulations, customer funds are safeguarded at licensed institutions, and every payment is encrypted, approved with your PIN or biometrics, and recorded in a tamper-evident ledger.
What phone do I need?
Payscan works on any modern Android phone and iPhone, and on basic feature phones too through USSD, no app or internet needed. You just need a Payscan account and a way to top up, a bank, a mobile wallet, or a nearby agent.
